Hot stuff: Top 5 music videos featuring tennis players

I just saw Martin Solveig's latest music video Hello which was shot at Roland Garros and I thought it would be interesting to do a compilation of some music videos with tennis players on them.

5- Olga Barabanschikova - Poslednii tanets
The former WTA player from Belarus pursued a showbussiness career as model, TV host and singer after her retirement. In this video she combined her two passions, music and tennis.



4- Igor Nikolaev - Kak Ty Prekrasna (feat. Elena Dementieva)
The usually discreet Olympic champion Elena Dementieva looked stunning in this video of Russian singer Igor Nikolaev.



3- Martin Solveig & Dragonette - Hello (feat. Novak Djokovic & Gael Monfils)
Not only the video is shot in Roland Garros with Solveig looking like Bjorn Borg and Bob Sinclair as Andre Agassi, but ATP stars Novak Djokovic and Gael Monfils play key roles on it. WTA fans may even recognize French players Mathilde Johansson (as the lineswoman) and Olivia Sanchez (as one of Sinclair's fans)



2- Shakira - Gypsy (feat. Rafael Nadal)
This video showed a great chemistry between big Latin music star Shakira and a shirtless ATP No.1 Rafael Nadal, including an epic kiss at the end of the video.



1- Enrique Iglesias - Escape (feat. Anna Kournikova)
In late 2001 Iglesias asked the WTA sex-symbol to star in the video for his hit Escape, which includes scenes with both stars making out in the ladies restroom and inside a car. Then they started a relationship in real life that lasts for more than 8 years.

Hot stuff: Australian Open fashion

As every year, the first Grand Slam of the year is a great catwalk to show new season designs. This year Maria Sharapova's dress was widely commented, with mostly negative reviews. Nevertheless she wasn't able to show it off a lot as she was defeated in the 1st round. Also controversial was Venus Williams's choice, not her outfit but her skin-coloured underwear that made the visual illusion of going commando.

And it was all yellow... Besides Venus Williams, some of the most popular players such as Ivanovic, Hantuchova and Kirilenko also picked yellow for their outfits.

By the way Kirilenko is looking much better now that she is not wearing Stella McCartney's designs. That burden is now for Caroline Wozniacki. I must admit that this time I have not found her design so unflattering, although grey was a little bit boring choice.

Thumbs up for Serena Williams and Jie Zheng.

As usual, thumbs down for Fila (Clijsters, Kuznetsova) and Yonex (Dementieva).

One of the worst outfits I've seen lately was Aravane Rezai's black and gold combination, completely inaproppiate for Australian summer. But she wasn't the worst one though. Lucie Safarova got that inglorious honor with her flashy t-shirt. Lucie, what the hell were you thinking?

And my pick for best dressed goes this time to Victoria Azarenka. Nothing special, but it really suited her (much better than her Wimbledon'09 outfit) and the pink details on her tank top, shoes, shoelaces and scrunchies perfectly matched her skirt.

Hot stuff: Caroline Wozniacki and Victoria Azarenka making fun of themselves

In this video published on Sony Ericsson WTA website you can see another side of the players as they enjoy Players Party at the Sony Ericsson Championships in Doha. And it is especially enjoyable to find out the good sense of humor of young players Caroline Wozniacki and Victoria Azarenka, who make fun of themshelves. Azarenka calls Wozniacki "a pusher" while Wozniacki calls Azarenka "a brainless ballbasher". By chance, these are the nicknames that their critics in the biggest online fan base (tennisforum.com) give them. Is it a coincidence? Anyway it is nice to see that these young girls take rivalry and critics in such a good way.

Hot stuff: Flavia Pennetta's spicy interview for Italian TV

Italian player Flavia Pennetta, the first Italian player ever to rank at Top-10, had an spicy interview for Italian TV show La Iene. There the Italian admitted that while being involved with ATP player Carlos Moya they shared hotel room and had "free sex" instead of abstinence. Pennetta also revealed that 3 or 4 ATP players have hitted on her, the last one a Brazilian player, althought she rejected them.

Pennetta thinks that "Haas is the most handsome player", although she would pick Marat Safin to get off with. On the other hand, she wouldn't get off with Federer, Nadal, Del Potro, Yannick Noah nor Maria Sharapova.The Italian also stated that there are many homosexual players, although no female player has ever hitted on her.

Pennetta also admitted to have had sex on a plane, grass and hard court ("court nº3"). The Italian points "Kournikova" as the most sexy player on the Tour, but considers herself prettier than Wozniacki and Sharapova.

Hot stuff: Wimbledon fashion

Wimbledon's strict dress code does not give much chance to designer's creativity as only white is allowed in player's outfits. Therefore the tournament never stands out regarding fashion as much as the other Grand Slams. Most of the outfits are plain and simple, but sometimes the complements get the attention. For example Nike designed an ellegant jacket for Maria Sharapova and a classy coat Serena Williams.

Venus Williams, Ana Ivanovic, Jelena Jankovic and Daniela Hantuchova were also among the players that got more attention, all with simple but nice white dresses.

Hot stuff: Roland Garros fashion

Roland Garros is not only a big tennis tournament, but also a catwalk where the most important sport clothing brands show off their new summer collections.

This year, Nike had a massive presence with many different lines that got most of the attention. Nike's most known model Maria Sharapova was coming back after a long injury break and although her dress was not as brilliant as other times, it was original and didn't look bad at all. Serena Williams also showed a new design for her and, although the colours were not the best, the dressed really suited her body. My favourite dress was the one Victoria Azarenka and Daniela Hantuchova wore, although Azarenka failed with the headband. Another players picked classical t-shirt & skirt combination with good results too. But in my opinion the best dressed player this year was upcoming Russian Vitalia Diatchenko. Although I wonder that she is not being sponsored by Nike, she wore some Nike dresses, including the dress that Sharapova should have worn for the Australian Open, and they really looked good on her as she has an amazing body. Nike should note it and sponsor her as she would be a great model for their designs.

In a second step I would place French brand Lacoste, that always shows their new designs in the French Open. They have a bunch of cute girls like Cibulkova, Dulko, Cornet, Bremond, Johansson... to show off their designs and this year they have signed Jelena Dokic as well. They showed a very simple but nice white-navy blue t-shirt & skirt combination that looked good on all of them, with Gisela Dulko as the best looking. Alize Cornet chose a white dress which looked nice too.

Again big dissapointment from Adidas side. Nothing new, the same boring blue creased t-shirt for players like Ivanovic, Cirstea and Wozniacki, that doesn't fit them at all. The only touch of ellegance came as always from Maria Kirilenko.

A new brand that is getting some attention is Chinese brand Anta, especially after signing former WTA #1 Jelena Jankovic and Chinese star Jie Zheng. Their designs are not spectacular but not bad at all.

Concerning other brands, Fila as always presented very poor designs, although they didn't look bad this time with models like Agnes Szavay and Anna Chakvetadze. Reebok didn't get this time a lot of attention as most of its sponsored players suffered early defeats. And it is worth to mention another colorful design from Venus Williams and her brand Eleven.

Hot stuff: Australian Open fashion

Every year, Australian Open is a great catwalk where all the sports fashion brands present their new collections for the season. Unlike other years, this time there were not very innovative or daring designs, maybe due to the threat of the tournament organizers. With Sharapova absent, many looks where on two of the most fashionable players, Maria Kirilenko and Ana Ivanovic, both with Adidas. Kirilenko looked stunning in her Stella McCartney's and Ivanovic didn't look bad either in a fucsia dress.

Adidas seems to have taken the leadership in women's tennis fashion and is currently dressing many WTA tour players. The yellow colour was a constant and looked good in players such as Dinara Safina , Caroline Wozniacki, Sania Mirza or Shuai Peng.

Due to the absence of Sharapova, Nike didn't get a lot of attention this time. Nevertheless, the very thight and short outfit of Daniela Hantuchova was widely commented, as the always original outfits of Serena Williams.

In the third place we must name Fila, which got a big presence at the Open thanks to Jelena Dokic, who was in the spotlight after her emotive return. And also Anna Chakvetadze, who recently signed for Fila, wore a really nice dress.

Concerning other brands, Reebok missed Jelena Jankovic, who has signed a deal with Chinese brand Anta, and didn't have a lot of presence. K-Swiss, Lotto and Lacoste were not as brilliant as other times and presented nice but simple designs. Yonex takes advance of the beauty and fitness of Elena Dementieva and is doing a good work lately with dresses that suit perfectly to her body. And Venus Williams brand, Eleven, also picked yellow for their designs.
